“Miishipaawitiik” is named after a cougar that dwells in the rapids and is the gate keeper of the rapids.
Located 268 air kilometres northeast of Winnipeg, Little Grand Rapids First Nation is situated along the shores of Family Lake near the Manitoba/Ontario border. The community is spread out over an eight (8) kilometre area along the lake shore.
Little Grand Rapids is signatory to Treaty 5 and is a member of the Southeast Resource Development Council.
